AN ATTRACTIVE MID 18TH-CENTURY ENGLISH "LITTLE ADMIRAL" CHANDLER'S TRADE SIGN
delicately carved in limewood and depicted as a captain of c.1760 with tricorn positioned over right eye, raised arms, overcoat with white facings and gold buttons, stock, waistcoat, chatelaine, breeches, stockings and buckled shoes, standing on a circular base with iron securing hoop to reverse (minor losses, old wear) -- 32in. (81.5cm.) high

Originally this figure would have sported an instrument - possibly a back-staff or telescope as his hands are not positioned for an octant. The finish appears to be mostly original.

Estimated at £12,000 - £15,000

(inc. buyer's premium of 24%)
